Frequently asked questions
Why is this called a “Host Family Referral Program”?

It is called a Referral Program because Peruwayna introduces eligible adult students to independent Peruvian Host Families but does not own, operate or provide the accommodations (host Families are not Peruwayna employees or representatives). If both wish to proceed, the student and the Host Family enter into a separate agreement covering payments, meals and household rules. Peruwayna may transmit that agreement but is not a party to it. Students pay Host Families directly, and Peruwayna never charges referral fees nor commissions.
What will my host family provide?
-
Regular conversation in Spanish.
-
A private, well illuminated and ventilated room.
-
A nutritious breakfast every day (for those students that choose a breakfast and dinner option, the host family will share dinner with
students each evening) -
A desk inside your bedroom or a space in a
shared area you can use to study and complete homework. -
Access to a shared bathroom (or private bathroom, as the case may be)
-
A house key
Is laundry included with my homestay?
Unfortunately since weather in Lima is very humid, most families do not wash their clothes at home as it takes several days to dry off (also, apartments and houses in Lima are small, so not every family has enough space to hang their clothes). Instead, most families choose to use laundries where they can get their clothes clean in just a couple hours for cheap (normally a regular size load will cost you around $3-$7, including washing, drying, and folding your clothes for you).
Your family will point out to you one or more laundries near your house where you can take your clothes to wash cheaply and quickly.
What time can I check-in/check-out?
On request and upon availability, your host family will try to make special arrangements for your arrival and/or departure. In such cases, please indicate your check in time on our registration form or by sending an email to contact@peruwayna.com
Can I have guests?
Students will be able to invite guests only with the knowledge and permission of their host family and during visiting hours (daily from 10am to 9pm).
Unfortunately, because of security concerns,
families do not allow non-students to stay overnight.
Are there spaces for couples?
Yes! However, please note that since there are a limited number of families that are able to host couples, kindly first send us an email in order to check availability during your travel dates. Also, please note that couples staying together in the same room will get a 15% discount per person on top of the regular price per night.
